Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2025-2026 School Year!
Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, we are excited to welcome you to our school and our vibrant learning community.
This year, we will continue to strengthen our unified school community and nurture a safe, caring environment for all. Together, staff and students will further refine what it means to SOAR—our school-wide behaviour framework built on Safety, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect.
Over the summer, construction continued around our building, including the start of our new Cree Culture and Language Cabin. This space will enhance our Cree Language and Culture programming, and we are eager to see it completed and in use.
While we remain committed to our four priorities—literacy, numeracy, connectivity, and career development—this year we will place a special emphasis on numeracy. Students in Grades 1–9 will take part in SpringMath, a fluency and intervention program designed to strengthen math skills. We are excited about the positive impact this will have on student achievement.
As always, school attendance and parental involvement are key to student success. We encourage parents to stay connected—whether by visiting the school, calling, or emailing—and to take an active role in their child’s learning journey.
On behalf of the entire staff of St. Mary’s Catholic/Fort Vermilion Public Schools, we wish you a year filled with growth, discovery, and many exciting learning opportunities.
Yours in education,
Jenn Perry
Principal,
St. Mary's Catholic School / Fort Vermilion Public School
