Parents/Guardians are a vital part of every child’s education. This education starts long before children come to school in the simple forms of talking with your children, reading, playing games, and spending time with them.
Fort Vermilion School Division encourages parents/guardians to stay informed and support their children throughout their school career.
We have created a guide to help you communicate effectively with your child's teacher at Parent/Teacher Interviews with tips that can be applied throughout the school year.

A few more ways to get involved are:
- read with your child often, ideally every day
- stay informed by reading newsletters, agendas and notes from the teacher or school
- participate in parent/teacher interviews
- attend school events and special activities
- talk to your child and show an interest in their school day, friends and favorite activities
Early Intervention (PUF) Program
Sandhills Elementary School offers a very successful Early Intervention Program designed for 3 and 4 year old children who would benefit from some level of intervention prior to attending Kindergarten.
Early Intervention provides its students with a structured, language enriched environment that will support the development of language, fine and gross motor skills, social skills and other areas of need identified by specialists. The classroom teacher, with the help of a team of assistants, will implement a hands-on, interactive style of programming.
The program curriculum is completely designed to meet the diagnosed needs of the children in the classroom and support the development of social and academic skills needed for Kindergarten.
Programming will include group activities, centers (ie. puzzles, dramatic play, crafts, building, etc.), writing, read alouds, music and much more.

For your convenience, we’ve made arrangements for families to voluntarily purchase accident insurance through the Family Accident Reimbursement Plan, underwritten by Industrial Alliance Insurance and Financial Services Inc (iA Financial Group). This insurance replaces the Kids Plus Accident Insurance.
Introducing a comprehensive group accident insurance plan with a Critical Illness Insurance component, designed for the whole family.
The Family Accident Reimbursement Plan is ideal for supplementing costs not covered by your provincial health insurance or existing employer extended health and dental plans. Regardless of the size of your family, all eligible family members can be insured under one set monthly rate of $39.95.
Your coverage also includes a Critical Illness Insurance component, which pays out a lump-sum amount that you can spend however you see fit. That’s one less thing to worry about while you or someone in your family recovers from a serious illness.
To apply for the Family Accident Reimbursement Plan or to find out more, visit the Family Accident Insurance Plan website.
