2021 FVSD School & Individual Merit Award Nominations

The Board of Trustees recognizes the value and contributions made by all staff, students and communities. To celebrate these contributions, the FVSD has created Merit Awards.  Outstanding efforts towards building positive learning environments are occurring in FVSD schools and these efforts are deserving of recognition.  Merit awards will recognize leadership, dedication, creativity, ingenuity and risk-taking; all potential components of strategies which are having a positive impact on the educational experience of students.  Please read the description of the awards below and if you feel that a school or individual in your community is deserving of such recognition, please take the time to nominate them.

The Fort Vermilion School Division is a highly focused educational organization.  Currently, the FVSD Board of Trustees has established three priorities for staff to focus their efforts:

  1. FVSD will foster connectivity and well-being amongst community, students, parents and staff
  2. All students will improve literacy skills across the content areas
  3. All students will improve numeracy skills

Parents, students, staff and community members all have the opportunity to nominate programs within their school communities in one or more of the following categories:

  1. Connectivity – The Connectivity Divisional Priority Merit award will recognize school efforts in this priority area.  The goal of this focus area is to make an instrumental difference in the lives of students by providing every opportunity for connection; fostering connectivity and well-being amongst community, students, parents and staff. 
  2. Literacy – The Literacy Divisional Priority Merit award will recognize school efforts in this priority area.  The goal of this focus area is to make an instrumental difference in the lives of students by providing every opportunity for Literacy success. 
  3. Numeracy – The Numeracy Divisional Priority Merit award will recognize school efforts in this priority area.  The goal of this focus area is to make an instrumental difference in the lives of students by providing every opportunity for Numeracy success. 
  4. Innovative Programming – The educational program of a student consists of a broad range of experiences which occur both within and outside of the classroom. This Merit award will recognize the breadth of innovative programming and instruction for students.

 

Parents, students, staff and community members all have the opportunity to nominate individuals within their school communities in one or more of the following categories:

  1. Teacher/Administrator – Nominate to recognize and celebrate a teacher/administrator who makes a difference…  A teacher/administrator who lights a spark in students, inspires their colleagues and gives parents confidence.
  2. Support Staff (all staff in the system excluding teachers/administrators and bus drivers) – This Merit award will recognize support staff who are impacting FVSD success.  Nominate to recognize and celebrate a support staff member who makes a difference…  A staff member who lights a spark in students, inspires their colleagues and gives parents confidence.
  3. Bus Driver – This Merit award will recognize a bus driver who is impacting FVSD success. Nominate to recognize and celebrate a bus driver who makes a difference…  A bus driver who lights a spark in students, inspires their colleagues and gives parents confidence.

Nomination deadline is September 23, 2021.  All award winners will be celebrated at the October 8, 2021 FVSD Awards Ceremony/PD Day.
