In preparation for the upcoming school year, staff from across the Division came together in High Level last Wednesday for a day of meaningful connection, uplifting inspiration and purposeful professional development. Event organizer and Associate Superintendent of Learning, Natalie Morris shared, The energy in the gym was lovely—it was great to start the year off connecting with colleagues, seeing so many friendly faces, and meeting people new to the division.”

Staff spent the first hour reconnecting with old colleagues and connecting with new ones over breakfast before taking in a keynote speech presented by mindset coach, philanthropist, and advocate for joy, Jessica Janzen. Author of Bring the Joy, Jessica draws on her own life experiences and inspires others to find the joy in their lives, making the shift from surviving to thriving.

Following the keynote, staff were treated to a variety of lunch options from local food truck operators before afternoon team meetings began. Focused groups spent the rest of the day working on preparations for the upcoming school year. “It was an amazing day to see the passion and desire to change the lives of kids,” said Superintendent Mike McMann.
