Essential Services is hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic (Journeyman or Apprentice). 

This position is open to both the Journeyman mechanic and the mechanically skilled individual seeking an apprenticeship.  The successful candidate will work as part of the Maintenance team to repair and maintain FVSD school buses and fleet vehicles. This position is based in La Crete working throughout the Division as needed. 

Start Date:  As soon as possible upon hire               Hours:  40 hours per week

Preferred Qualifications:

• Grade 12 Diploma
• Apprentice must be willing to take direction and learn under the supervision of the licensed mechanic and seek to obtain their Journeyman certificate within four years of employment. 
• Work cooperatively as part of a diversified team
• Perform assigned work in an efficient, professional, and safe manner always acting in the best interest of the Fort Vermilion School Division
• Good written and oral communication skills
• An Alberta Class 5 driver’s license
• An Alberta Class 2 driver’s license with Q (air brakes) endorsement is required and can be obtained after hire
• Evidence of a clean Alberta Registry Driver’s Abstract
• Evidence of successfully passing the required Police-Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) and the Alberta Children’s Services Intervention Record Check (IRC) if you have/had children

Salary & Benefits:

• Salary range $51,000 to $100,000 dependent upon qualifications and experience
• Benefits will be provided after 90 calendar days of employment
