The Grade 5/6 class at Upper Hay River School participated in the D.A.R.E. program sponsored by the R.C.M.P. over the last two months. The students actively participated in role playing pressure situations. The students used the decision-making model to practice methods of saying "no" to alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. The D.A.R.E program culminated with the graduation ceremony and presentation on June 9th. Not only was the program as success with students, but of all graduating students, 100% of parents attended to celebrate with their children. The event was a true success as it brought students and their families together with members of the High Level RCMP detachment to combat some of dangers and pressures that families face today. It was a very positive experience for all parties.
