Student Health Services in FVSD Student Health funding is provided to partnerships who work collaboratively to provide integrated health and related support services for children with special health needs. The purpose of these services is to assist students with special health needs so they can participate fully in their education programs and be successful at learning. The Northern Lights - Fort Vermilion School Division Student Health Partnership consists of Fort Vermilion School Division No. 52, High Level Christian Academy, Northern Lights Health Region and Region 8 Child and Family Services Authority. Working collaboratively, the partnership develops a yearly Service Plan to prioritize service areas, develop strategies for service delivery and share accountability. Students with physical disabilities, developmental disabilities, neurological disorders, sensory impairments, medical conditions, and/or emotional/behavioural disabilities who are registered in regular school programs from Early Childhood Services (ECS) through Grade 12 may be eligible to access Student Health services based on the local partnership’s Service Plan. The 2007-2008 Student Health focus for FVSD schools includes Speech-Language therapy (with a focus on K-3), Mental Health therapy and Physical and Occupational Therapy (K-12). Information relating to referrals for Student Health services can be accessed through the Special Education Coordinator at each FVSD school. |
