Snow and Ice

Snow!All sorts of neat ideas from building a snow castle to making a snow lantern.  A good site for students as well.
ChildFun - Snow ThemeAlthough this is a pre-school site, the activities listed would be fine for all grades.  I recognized a few of the activities from other sites as well, many of the activities are ones sent in by teachers and parents.
ChildFun - Ice CreamA fun theme both in the Summer as well as Winter!
Snow CrystalsThis site has interesting photographs and information.  Geared more for older grades and adults, some of the information could be pulled and shared with younger students as well.

Polar Bears AliveThis site is dedicated to the conservation of Polar Bears.  Read facts, learn more about the organization, look at a map showing where polar bears live and even look at pictures.  Some of the pictures would work well for reports or displays too.
SeaWorld - Info booksA great site for teachers and students.  Has a lot of good, relevant information as well as a section with fun activities.
Gander Academy - Polar BearsThis theme page is well done.  From web sites to activity pages, teachers can find a lot of good resources here.  For grades 1 to 6.

Penguin Species - Crayola ComCrayola has quite a few lesson ideas and links.  You may be asked to register at the site when you get to it.  It is worthwhile as by registering (for free) you have access to all the ideas and resources available on the site.

Frosty ReadersThis online project was designed primarily for grade 2 students.  It features a number of schools who participated in the project by sharing a winter book they read and the activities they did with the book.  A great resource for reading and writing activities.  Many of the ideas are easily adaptable for grades K to 4.
