What our Students are Reading...

The Outsiders

The book I chose as my favorite is The Outsiders written by S.E. Hinton in 1967. This book is about Ponyboy, a fourteen year old living in a city divided. On the eastside there are the Greasers. Greasers usually don’t have very much money and are less fortunate. On the westside there are the Socs. The Socs are wealthier and more sophisticated, they are also known as socials. Greasers and Socs are enemies. After Ponyboy and his friend Johnny get into a bad situation with four Socs. The Greasers and Socs get into a big fight. S.E. Hinton did a great job explaining the setting and the feelings of the characters. You can get a very distinct picture from what she says. In    The Outsiders there is always something exciting going on. This book is full of action and suspense. I would recommend this book to anybody who asks about it.

Left Behind

My favorite book is Left Behind byTim Lahaye & Jerry B. Jenkins. This book is about Earth’s last days. It I based on the bible that states; God and Jesus taking their people from the world to heaven with them, any one who doesn’t go gets left behind. Rayford Steel, a pilot for pan-continental, is an early 40 ear old man with a loving family back home (well what he thinks) in Arlington Heights. Rayford is flying a fully loaded 747 back home when a crew member informs him that many passengers have disappeared, every youth, some seniors and few middle-aged people are gone. While inspecting the plane Rayford meets Cameron “Buck” Williams. At 30, Buck is the youngest ever senior writer for global weekly. Buck and Rayford work together to find out what is happening to the world and their families. This book was written in 1995. 2000 was the year every body thought the world would end. There is a complete series but this first book (I think) is the best of all. What would you do if you came home from school one day and no body in your family was there? The only traces of them are a steaming cup of coffee, the television still on and their clothes and accessories laying on the floor and the chairs…you were left behind.

The Taggerung

The book I have chosen is called The Taggerung by Brian Jacques.  I like this book because it is very interesting and suspenseful. The two main characters of this novel are Sawney Rath the ferret and the taggerung baby Deyna. This book is the 14th book of the series. It was made in 1998. In this book the main story is about Sawney Rath the ferret and chief of the Juska tribe, found out that there had been a taggerung born. A taggerung is a legendary animal of any kind with extraordinary fighting skills. Sawney Rath goes and hunts down the baby taggerung from the great city of Red Wall so that him and his clan could have a legendary taggerung in it. Deyna the taggerung baby grows up living with Sawney not knowing he was captured the day he was born. I would recommend this book to people because it is a very interesting and comes from a really good series as well.
