Current Initiatives

The Fort Vermilion School Division Board of Trustees is focused on increasing the percentage of students reading at grade level and the percentage of students completing high school. These two initiatives are supported by the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement (AISI) project and are reflected in school-based education plans.

Reading
Increase the percentage of students reading at or above grade level as measured by CAT3 and GMRT. 

The response to this goal is best expressed by the literacy plan titled Reading Well. This plan outlines a comprehensive framework of instruction and support designed to improve the reading skills of students.

School Completion
Improve student high school completion rates. 

Through improving school operations, making instruction more authentic to the learner and through linking schooling with careers, students will more readily make the choice to remain in school.
