Under the Carver Model of governing, the Board focuses on governance, rather than day to day operations. Policies are set to support the Board's vision, mission, goals and priorities and are monitored, reviewed and revised annually. Trustees are elected from eight different wards, five urban and three rural. A trustee position is also available for a representative of the First Nation community, but at this time the seat remains vacant. Regular (Public) Board meetings are held once per month, generally on the third Tuesday of the month. Meetings are scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m. Board meetings are open to the public and official delegations are welcome. To present as a delegation, please contact the Board Chair or Superintendent. Copies of the agendas and minutes are posted here for each Regular Board Meeting. The agenda for each Regular Board Meeting is set in advance in order to ensure all aspects of governance are visited in a timely manner each calendar year. The board work plan available here.

The Board of Trustees of the Fort Vermilion School Division is an eight member board operating under a Carver model of governance. The current Board was elected in October 2007 and will serve until October 2010. The Board of Trustees is entrusted to oversee the educating of more than 3,500 students by more than 500 staff members.
