There are approximately 130 students, with the majority being English as a Second Language (ESL) students.

In 1988 Bluehills Community School was opened as a K-6 school. Grades 7-9 were added in 1998.

Bluehills Community School is approximately 50 km South-West of La Crete, in the Bluehills / Tompkins Landing district of Mackenzie County. |
|
The staff usually consists of 8 classroom teachers, 1 principal, 1 teacher assistant, 2 read well coordinators, 1/2 time librarian, 1 custodian and 4 bus drivers. |
|
Housing is available on site. There are 4 houses, 1 mobile home, and 1 mobile home duplex. |
|
The sports facilities on site include an outside ice rink, ball diamond, soccer field, playground and a small gym. |
|
There are usually 3 split classes and 3 single grade classes. |
|
All classrooms have an overhead projector connected to the teacher computers for demonstrations, videos, smartboard use, etc. |
|
Occasionally there will be a school sports team that competes with the other schools in the division. |








|
Junior high students have complete access to the computer lab, while grades four to six have limited usage, and the K-3 have no access. |
|
The junior high students are bussed to La Crete for shop & home economics.
