Information

There are approximately 130 students, with the majority being English as a Second Language (ESL) students.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In 1988 Bluehills Community School was opened as a K-6 school.  Grades 7-9 were added in 1998.

 

 

Bluehills Community School is approximately 50 km South-West of La Crete, in the Bluehills / Tompkins Landing district of Mackenzie County.

The staff usually consists of 8 classroom teachers, 1 principal, 1 teacher assistant, 2 read well coordinators, 1/2 time librarian, 1 custodian and 4 bus drivers.

Housing is available on site.  There are 4 houses, 1 mobile home, and 1 mobile home duplex.

The sports facilities on site include an outside ice rink, ball diamond, soccer field, playground and a small gym.

There are usually 3 split classes and 3 single grade classes.

All classrooms have an overhead projector connected to the teacher computers for demonstrations, videos, smartboard use, etc.

Occasionally there will be a school sports team that competes with the other schools in the division.

Junior high students have complete access to the computer lab, while grades four to six have limited usage, and the K-3 have no access.

The junior high students are bussed to La Crete for shop & home economics.
